I left my heart out on display
in a small glass case smudged with dirt and grime,
so now the hurried wanderers can hear for a few futile seconds
its simple endless tune:

i'm-here i'm-here i'm-here i'm-here

chipping away at my hopes and dreams,

i'm-here i'm-here i'm-here i'm-here

Part of me wants crowds to gather
and marvel at the amazing feat
of the life rushing in and out of me,
quietly singing

i'm-here i'm-here i'm-here i'm-here

almost like a prayer, asking for forever,

i'm-here i'm-here i'm-here i'm-here

But now, as it sits, chanting,
they stand and stop and stare,
because my tiny heart is whispering
a new song almost too quiet to hear:

nothing nothing nothing nothing

Then, they might just walk away,
and live their simple lives,
never hearing my hearts final lines

nothing nothing nothing gone.

Wow.  This truly tugged at my emotions.  It's sad, but it happens so often.  I really like this!  :D
